HELLO AND WELCOME. My name is Nicolas Miranda, I live in Redmond, Oregon, and I’m a musician. My first love is the guitar, which I started playing at age 14, and over the years I've learned to play many other wonderful and intriguing stringed instruments, including mandolin, dobro, banjo, bass, fiddle, bouzouki, and ukulele.
My formal training in music is from the Berklee School of Music in Boston and Portland State University’s Recording Arts and Music Production program under the tutelage of Jon Newton. Mostly, however, I’ve learned by constant listening, copying, experimenting, and playing.
Since then I’ve performed widely in the Northwest, both as a solo instrumentalist and as a member of various duets, trios, and bands. I’ve composed music for documentaries, theater productions, commercials, and more. When I'm not spending time with my beautiful wife, Nicole, my two sons, Weston and Thatcher, and my daughter, Chloe, I play the mandolin in a band called "Popcorn" with Joe Schulte and Jenny Wasson, which specializes in playing instrumental versions of corny pop songs (we actually sound a lot better than that reads).
If you’re looking for someone to perform at public venues or private events, or if you need music composed for a project, check out my site for more information and please get in touch. Thanks for looking.
